  1. a) wl^2/8
    For Simply supported beam, moment @ mid-span = wl^2/8
    For beam with Fixed supports, moment @ mid-span = wl^2/24 i.e 1/3*(wl^2/8) and fixed end moment = wl^2/12

Conclusion, the formular they have in common is wl^2/8.

    Thanks.
